Part historical look into Captain James Cook and part travelogue into most of the places Cook journeyed, Tony Horwitz blends his own stories and the history brilliantly. It is not a biography, but rather an exploration of Cook and the comparison to the places he went in the 1700’s compared to today. It is sometime funny, always reflective, and fresh. Great for history buffs of course, but a nice addition to travel literature as well.
